Cleaning & Care

Care Instructions for Tibetan Silver Jewelry

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing to remove oils and moisture.
  • Remove before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.
  • Avoid contact with perfume, lotion, hairspray, sunscreen, and household cleaners.
  • Store in a dry place, preferably in a jewelry pouch or sealed plastic bag.
  • Keep pieces separated to prevent scratching.

Cleaning

  • Use a soft cloth to buff the surface.
  • If needed, wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
  • Do not soak the jewelry in water.
  • Avoid silver dips, harsh chemical cleaners, toothpaste, baking soda scrubs, or abrasive polishing cloths, as these can damage the finish.

Tarnish and Discoloration

Because Tibetan silver often contains copper or other base metals, it may:

  • Tarnish over time
  • Develop dark spots
  • Turn a greenish color if exposed to moisture or skin acids

If tarnish appears, gently polish with a soft jewelry cloth designed for silver-colored jewelry.

Skin Sensitivity

Some Tibetan silver alloys contain nickel or other metals that can irritate sensitive skin. If you notice redness or itching, discontinue wearing the piece or apply a clear jewelry-protective coating to the metal surfaces that touch your skin.
